This course introduces workers and supervisors to the serious hazards associated with arc flash and electrical shock incidents in the workplace. Participants will learn key electrical safety principles, hazard recognition, PPE requirements, safe work practices, and the importance of complying with CSA and Canadian OHS standards.
This course provides workers with essential awareness training on asbestos hazards, health risks, and safe work practices in federally regulated workplaces. Participants will learn how to identify asbestos-containing materials, understand legal responsibilities, and apply exposure prevention measures in accordance with Canadian health and safety requirements.
Occupational health and safety in federal workplaces are governed by Part II of the Canada Labour Code. The main objective is to prevent workplace accidents and injuries during employment. Despite these preventive measures, accidents or illnesses can still occur. It’s essential to understand your responsibilities and the steps needed to ensure the safety and care of those injured or at risk. In this course, we will review key principles of hazardous occurrence investigation in accordance with the Canada Labour Code Part II for federally regulated workplaces.
The Canada Labour Code Part II requires federally-regulated employers to “ensure that employees who have supervisory or managerial responsibilities are adequately trained in health and safety and are informed of the responsibilities they have” (Clause 125(1)(z)).
Bill C-12, which came into effect in September 2000, amended the Canada Labour Code, Part II, by introducing the requirement for a Policy Health and Safety Committee for work places with more than 300 employees; amending the powers and duties of Work Place Health and Safety Committees; and by extending the duties of employers – particularly in relation to protection of third parties. Participants in this course will gain a solid understanding of the application and provisions of CLC-II, and their roles and responsibilities as Work Place and / or Policy Health and Safety Committee Members.
A Confined Space is one that is enclosed or partially enclosed, and where a hazardous atmosphere may be encountered, presenting a risk to persons entering the space. While the confined space hazards and proper safety practices have been understood for decades, there continue to be many confined space deaths annually in North America.
This course explains “how” and “when” a party becomes a “Constructor / Contractor / Prime Contractor / Principal Contractor” under health and safety legislation; describes the differences between the roles and responsibilities of an “Owner”, “Constructor / Contractor / Prime Contractor / Principal Contractor”, and “Employer”; covers the fundamentals of a Construction Project Safety Management program for ensuring compliance with the duties of an “Owner” and “Constructor / Contractor / Prime Contractor / Principal Contractor” under the health and safety legislation.
This course equips employers, project managers, and supervisors with the tools needed to effectively manage contractor safety in federally regulated workplaces. Participants will learn how to establish contractor safety expectations, evaluate risks, monitor compliance, and ensure projects are completed safely and in accordance with legislative requirements.
Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) is a workplace assessment method used to identify job specific hazards, assess their risk, and consider mechanisms to either eliminate, mitigate, and or control the hazards. Sections 25 and 27 of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) clearly states that “employers” and “supervisors” have the legal responsibility to advise the worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health and safety of the worker of which they are aware. That includes any workforce provided by a temporary help agency or any other individual that performs work at the workplace. This legal requirement also applies to companies and individuals that are classified as “constructors” on the job site, and thus coordinate multiple workers that are directly employed by other organizations used to identify and control unacceptable risks relating to the performance of job tasks.
The Elevated Work Platform Operator Training Program consists of a 3-4 hour classroom training session followed by a practical operating test. This program is recommended for new and existing operators of multiple types of elevated work platforms including boom trucks and aerial work platforms. This program will provide the participant with the necessary knowledge and skills to correctly and safely operate your type of elevated work platform specific to your operation.

This course provides workers and supervisors in federally regulated workplaces with the knowledge and practical skills needed to recognize fall hazards, use ladders safely, and complies with Canadian OHS requirements. Participants will learn fall prevention principles, safe equipment inspection and use, and the responsibilities required to reduce the risk of serious workplace injuries.
The Lift Truck Operator Training Program consists of a 4-hour classroom training session presented in an interactive format which covers all aspects of lift truck safety and operation. An on-site individual practical operating test will follow where unsafe or incorrect operating techniques are identified and corrected and pre-shift inspection procedures are reviewed. This program will provide the participant with the necessary knowledge to safely and correctly operate your specific class of lift truck(s) and attachment(s).
This course has been designed to familiarize participants with infection risks to patients and care workers associated with construction and maintenance operations in health care facilities, and to help participants develop an understanding of current best practices for prevention of infection by airborne and waterborne microbes in association with construction and maintenance activities. Course topics include: discussion on two common airborne and waterborne disease causing agents in the health care environment: Aspergillus and Legionella; the evolution of best practice standards for nosocomial infection prevention and control; a detailed examination of the latest version of CSA Z317; and a review of actual cases involving outbreaks in health care facilities.

Under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, certain functions may only be performed by a “Competent Person”. All “Supervisors” must be “Competent Persons”. Aspects of work such as confined space entry, operation of lifting devices, use of mobile equipment, work around live electrical equipment, and traffic control must also be performed only by “Competent Persons” or “Competent Workers”. Ensuring the appointment of “Competent Persons” is recognized as an essential element in demonstrating due diligence and protection of health and safety.
In Ontario there is a legal requirement to perform a Pre-Start Health and Safety Review (“PHSR”) in situations where a machine or process is installed or modified, and one or more prescribed circumstances exist. In most circumstances, the PHSR must be performed by a licensed Ontario Professional Engineer. And, most of those circumstances require the Professional Engineer to evaluate the adequacy of planned machine and process safeguarding, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and consensus technical standards. Understanding the “who, what, when, where, why and how” of PHSRs is important for prevention of harm to workers, and essential for compliance with regulatory obligations.

Confined spaces are everywhere. They can be found in virtually every industry, but are also as unique as the individuals who enter them. Lockout and Tagout standards require hazardous energy sources to be isolated and rendered inoperative before maintenance or servicing work can begin, therefore preventing the devastating injuries and deaths caused by unexpected energization. Transporting dangerous goods poses several hazards to workers, the general public, and the environment. Individuals involved in the transportation of dangerous goods within Canada are responsible for preventing injury, property damage, and environmental harm by being adequately trained and operating in a safe and responsible manner. To help accomplish this, the TDG Act and Regulations were created. Proper adherence to this act and its associated regulations ensures the safety of drivers, the public, and the environment while transporting dangerous goods within Canada. This course has been designed to educate learners on the Canadian TDG Act and its associated regulations in order to help them transport dangerous goods safely and properly. Throughout this course, participants will learn about their roles and responsibilities under this Act, relevant parts of the legislation, and the various aspects and requirements of safe and responsible dangerous good transportation, including but not limited to proper handling, packaging, labelling, placarding, documentation, and incident reporting procedures.

In Canada, suppliers, employers, and workers use the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) to communicate and identify the risks associated with products used in the workplace. WHMIS aligns with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) used by many countries around the world. In December 2022, amendments to the Hazardous Products Regulations (HPR) meant changes to the previously used WHMIS 2015. Health Canada outlined a 3-year transition period to give those who use WHMIS time to make the necessary changes. As of December 2025, anyone who uses WHMIS must follow the amended HPR. This WHMIS course aims to give you a basic understanding of the system, including general principles, worker safety, and significant updates. The Occupational health and safety awareness training provides a basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), and does not replace any sector specific, hazard specific, or competency specific training. This training introduces workers to the Occupational Health and Safety Act. It focuses on the health and safety rights and responsibilities of workers, supervisors and employers. It also serves as a general introduction to workplace health and safety. Workers can use this free training program as one way to meet the minimum training required by the Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training regulation. The program can be completed using the workbook or the eLearning module.
