Protecting Workers and the Community During Transit Infrastructure Construction

To accommodate rapid population growth, a massive program of public transit construction has been underway in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area over the past two decades. At the outset of the program, one of our legacy companies developed foundational contractor safety management programs for Metrolinx and York Region Rapid Transit in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Since then, CrossSafety has been a key member of the owners’ and builders’ project teams for the VivaNext Bus Rapidway, Eglinton Crosstown LRT, Eglinton Crosstown West Extension LRT, Finch West LRT and Hazel McCallion LRT projects – advising on health and safety contract frameworks, contractor safety program requirements, performing health and safety audits, conducting regular site safety inspections, implementing health and safety promotion campaigns, to protect workers and the public.
